Schools Projects

As part of the mapping project, I had hoped to investigate how children experienced a sense of place. Pupils from Isis, East Oxford First and SS Mary and John's schools are helping me with these investigations supported by their teachers, and in the Ashmolean workshops by members of the Education Department.

Children's conceptual development varies; their imagination and creativity are boundless. As an artist I have tried to plan explorations that are interesting for the children and which will result in dramatic visual displays. Each child retains ownership of their original work.

I have tried to develop a relationship with the children in their schools during preparatory workshops so that they are confident enough to work creatively in unfamiliar surroundings.
